A Splash of Colour Swimming provides a gentle and culturally safe pathway into swimming.
We understand that learning to swim as an adult can feel emotional, unfamiliar or even intimidating. Some people come to us with fear of water, past negative experiences, cultural barriers, body confidence concerns, or simply the feeling that they have “left it too late”.
You have not left it too late.
Our program helps adults build water confidence, basic swimming skills and a stronger sense of safety around pools, beaches and other aquatic spaces.
WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?
Welcome to Swimming is for adults aged 18 years and over who:
- are beginners or non-swimmers
- feel nervous, embarrassed or unsure around water
- want to feel safer at the pool, beach or around their children
- come from a multicultural, migrant or culturally diverse background
- want to learn in a respectful and supportive environment
We offer women-only, men-only and mixed classes where possible, depending on location, pool availability and instructor availability.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Welcome to Swimming is our entry-level adult learn-to-swim program for people who are new to swimming, returning after a long break, or feeling nervous around water.
Our program is designed especially for adults from multicultural, migrant and culturally diverse communities who may not have had the opportunity to learn to swim earlier in life.
- You do not need to be confident.
- You do not need to know how to swim.
- You just need to be willing to take the first step.
Over 12 weeks, you will have access to:
- Personalised support from a motivation coach
- A friendly, safe and respectful environment
- Swimming lessons taught by qualified, patient instructors
- Indoor swimming pools at locations across New South Wales, ACT, Victoria and Queensland
- Positive mindset and body confidence support
- Skin and hair care advice to support for all hair types and styles (including weaves, extensions, coloured hair, and natural textures such as 4C)
- Small class sizes (strictly limited to 20 participants per location) to ensure individual support and attention
Dates and Times
Our 12-week programs run twice a year:
- February to May
- August to November
Please note that there are no lessons during winter (June–July).
How to Join
If you would like to secure one of the limited 20 places available at your chosen location, please complete our Expression of Interest (EOI) form.
All EOIs will be assessed to confirm eligibility for the program.
Once submitted, you will be added to the waiting list for your preferred location.
Waiting times vary by location—thank you for your patience and understanding.
Expressions of Interest are open all year round.
