A Splash of Colour Swimming Program is targeted towards women from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Cultural and linguistic diversity is generally understood as a person who identifies with a culture or religion that is not predominantly represented in Australian society or speaks a language other than English at home.
At this stage the program is for women only.
At this stage, the program is open to women over 18 to 70+ who are from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
At this stage, we are not accepting enrolments for children under 18 years of age.
Your swimming instructor / coach will be a staff member of a recognised Aquatic Centre.
All coaches are qualified with the Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association (ASCTA), and instructors and lifeguards hold current AUSTSWIM and Royal Life Saving qualifications.
The program is best suited to non-swimmers (completely new to swimming) and those with minimal swimming ability (e.g.: have had some swimming lessons in the past but are not confident swimmers).
The pool 'learn to swim' sessions are 45 minutes.
The sessions will be held at recognised swimming pools. Please refer to the program guide for more information on the type of pool you will having lessons in.
Newcastle - NuSport at The Forum, Callaghan campus, University of Newcastle, NSW.
Indoor heated pool.
Maitland - Maitland City Council Aquatic Centre, Maitland, NSW.
Indoor heated pool.
All learn to swim lessons will be held in shallow water.
Newcastle - Yes. You can use bus or train to travel to The Forum at the University of Newcastle.

Maitland - Please check with your transport provider to confirm public transport options to Maitland Pool.
Please let us know if you will need a translator OR if you plan to bring a translator with you.
The program is free to 20 eligible participants.
The program is split into two components:
1. Two online sessions
2. Ten in pool sessions
All in pool sessions start at 6pm and end at 6.45pm.
Please allow time for travel to and from the venue.
A full schedule will be made available to enrolled participants.
